Restaurants
- The Pig: two restaurants right opposite the house including a lovely garden for cocktails and a snug for coffee (it is also possible to book treatments in the Pig’s spa)
- Rojanos, Padstow: our favourite Paul Ainsworth restaurant with great breakfasts as well as Italian dinners
- Harlyn Beach Box: the best beach dining for miles. A great menu for any meal including great ice cream.
- Greens in Padstow: a lovely cafe/restaurant next to the crazy golf. Very child friendly, lovely views and one of our favourites
- Strong Adolfos: a 20min drive (it’s on the outskirts of Wadebridge direction) and a great stop en route to other places in Cornwall.
- Fish and Chips: we think the best come from Chip Ahoy in Padstow
- Rick Stein’s: deli and cafes/restaurants are all worth the splurge, including the Cornish Arms which is in St Merryn and walkable (the fish and chip shop in Padstow is a second best after Chip Ahoy and has nice seating)
- Reggies in St Merryn is a wonderful Indian restaurant and takeaway. Super friendly and highly recommended (including for children). Can organise collection meals for a big group with a few days notice
Shops
- Padstow Farm Shop: it’s not in Padstow but just on the outskirts. Has a great cafe with ready meals and a good butcher and deli counter
- Constantine Stores: long opening hours and sells everything food and drink related that you could want
- Constantine Surf Shop: sells new and second hand and also has hire of wetsuits. Can organise surf lessons too
- Barnecutts: a traditional bakery in St Merryn which we think has the best pasties (traditional as well as many alternative varieties)
- The garage in St Merryn doubles as a hardware shop. There is almost nothing they don’t stock!…
- St Merryn is only 1 mile and also has pubs, cafes, a convenience store and a fish and chip shop
Local attractions
- Trevose Golf Club has three courses (inc a 9 hole short course) as well as a swimming pool, tennis and padel courts. All can be booked by non-members and the bar & restaurant are open to all
- The Eden project never disappoints
- The Lost Gardens of Heligan, Trerice and Llanhydrock are all good days out for garden enthusiasts
- Padstow has a great crazy golf just up the hill out of town
- Bedruthan Steps is a lovely stop and has a great cafe
- The Camel Trail goes from Padstow to Wadebridge (5 miles each way) and on to Bodmin. Great for flat walks/bike rides (bikes can be hired in Padstow)
- It’s worth mentioning all the coast path walks: see above for the closest but if you’re keen on longer walks, the path from Harlyn to Trevone is really nice and from there you can walk all the way round the coast to Padstow.
